6 Incredible Hacks To Get Rid Of Dark Circles That Actually Work

The one thing that petrifies me the most are those baggy, puffy, dark circles. Anyone who has a job like mine, with no fixed schedule but definite late nights can understand that 'no sleep' can ruin your skin, noticeably under your eyes.
Despite spending money on expensive treatments, these stubborn dark circles tend to keep coming back.

The truth is, they won't heal overnight!

We all need something more than just a basic routine to get rid of them. I am about to unveil my fair share of remedies for dark circles. I have personally tried these out, and they have worked wonders for me. If you too are looking for guaranteed results, give this list a good look.

  • Aloe Vera Gel

Do you know how they say some age-old techniques work, forever? Aloe Vera gel tops that list for skincare. Alosin, a compound present in the Aloe Vea gel can prevent skin pigmentation by working its way deep into the skin. In fact, it is known to be one of the best remedies for dark circles.

    How to use it?
Take 1 tbsp of Organic Aloe Vera gel (I purchased mine from the Woovly shop! Many brands to pick from. I picked mine out from Sutatva). Apply it to the affected areas. Leave it on overnight and wash it off with a mild cleanser the next day. Do this until you notice a visible lightening of the dark circles.

  • Organic Eye-Cream

Damask Rose & Coffee Eye Cream by Juicy Chemistry. This organic eye cream is enriched with fatty acids and chia seeds which are known to nourish and hydrate the skin, respectively. This skin area is relatively thin but owing to the cream's exceptional properties, it works gently yet is effective in reducing the dark circles and formation of fine lines.

With its unmatched properties and luxurious texture, the under-eye cream from Juicy Chemistry helps me care better (and faster!) my panda eyes.

    How to use it?
Dab 2-3 spots under your eyes and then massage the cream gently with your fingertips.

  • Under-Eye Serum

Apart from using creams and gels for dark circles, I swear by another incredible product I purchased on Woovly, Le Rituals Omega Rich Under Eye Serum. Packed with powerful ingredients rich in Omega, Vitamins A, C & E and Rosehip Oil, which together work to restore firmness, elasticity and suppleness to the skin, giving it a refreshed look. It also visibly reduces eye tiredness, puffiness and dark circles.
Unlike face creams, this under-eye serum is readily absorbed into the skin. I have been using it for over a month now and trust me, I am amazed by the results.

    How to use it?
Apply it in small dots in a circle around the eyes (below the eyebrows and around the eye contour). Pat and dry until fully absorbed into the skin.

  • Cold Spoon

Dip two clean metal spoons in water, and chill them in the freezer for at least 10 minutes (or until chill). Place the rounded side of the spoons on your closed eyes for 10 minutes. This simple routine helps reduce eye puffiness instantly!

  • Try Tea Bags (Black/Green)

Teabags have natural tannins in them which can help tighten the skin around the eyes when used over the eyes. Not just me, but even runway models (that's what I have heard) use this technique to reduce the appearance of dark circles and eye puffiness.

    How to use it?
Take two tea bags, one for each eye, and steep it in hot water. Squeeze out the excess liquid and refrigerate them for a while. Place them on your eyes (immediately from the refrigerator) for at least five minutes to feel fresh. Make it a part of your daily routine, and you will notice the circles fade slowly.

  • Lemon Juice

Like lemon juice is added as a finishing touch in some recipes, this is my final hack for dark circles. Lemon juice is rich in Vitamin C, which helps lighten and tighten the skin. Use it around your eyes to fade out the dark circles.

    How to use it?
Take 2 tbsp. lemon juice and dab a cotton ball in it. Apply on the under-eye area, leave it on for 15 minutes and wash it off. Follow this for at least three weeks, consistently to see visible results.
